The human body is the product of the mind. Whether it is healthy or less than healthy it is a result of our state of mind. All of our thoughts and emotions are the triggers for chemicals released into the body through neuro-transmitter. We practice brain chemistry with our thoughts. When our minds are dominated with happy thoughts, we produce positive physical results. conversely, when we entertain negative thoughts such as anger, depression, fear, or jealousy, we are secreting those chemicals that bring about the physical repercussions known as illness. That is not to say that every negative thought or emotion will bring about illness. It is the prolonged state of mind that continually feeds the body chemicals that introduce ill health. To illustrate how thoughts influence our well being, let's look at the placebo effect:, thoughts alone determine the outcome of an illness. The patient believes that he/she has been given a healing medication, and a healing is the result. The placebo induced the body's own healing mechanism by accepting the thought that, "I am now being made well." Of course, the weaker the thought, the weaker the cure. The placebo is really a thought in pill form.
The mind is not the only place where intelligence is found. There is an intelligence found at the cellular and atomic levels. It is an exchange of energy as information. For instance, when the body is injured it knows exactly how to create a scab, or if tissue has been torn away the body knows how to granulate in new tissue. This is not done on a conscious level, but it is an intelligent exchange within the body at the subatomic level. The body is the most efficient pharmacy known to medicine. It secretes just the perfect amount of what is needed in any given situation. When a body is stressed or frightened, there is the rapid heartbeat, and a rise in blood pressure. One does not have to think consciously for this chemical response to take place.
In the Science of Mind teachings, this subatomic intelligence is the Divine within all life. The Divine responds to our minds, as our minds are not individual, but individualized from the One Mind. "It is done unto you as you believe.....", and "Let the mind that was in Christ be also in you"
From the standpoint of the Practitioner, healing into health is not changing a condition, but adjusting back into knowing the Divinity of all, and accepting It as the Truth of all that Is. We know how health gets to be the way it is, either healthy or unhealthy. The Practitioner looks past the condition and sees the wholeness of every person, or situation. There is a clear acceptance of the Divine, and of the authority that is the birth right of every human being to exercise. When someone is unable to know that for themselves, it is known for them by a trained mind, and the focus remains until there is the desired corresponding out-picturing as a result. Based on Science of Mind principles, what is known in one mind, is available in all minds. Truth seeks its own level, much like water seeks its own level, naturally and perfectly.
Health is determined and maintained in mind. A clear, and happy mental household will be reflected in the body. Emotions serve as guideposts, they tell us how we feel about everything. We can use them to determine if we are being, doing, and having those experiences which are pleasing, or not. When we pay attention to our state of well being, we will be paying attention to our feeling response, and use them to either redirect what we are doing or thinking, or if we are in a place of contentment and well being, we can continue on in the direction we are going.
When we have a natural response of anger, or a knee jerk reaction in fear, which happens to everyone, it is wise to stay with it until it is resolved. Ignoring something that has triggered a negative response in you will only come up again until it is taken through to resolution, or manifests itself as a distressful symptom of some sort. When something resurfaces that has been originally repressed, it is likely to become displaced hostility, or an upset bowel, and become difficult to identify the original cause.
As people begin to take responsibility for their own good health by means of taking charge of their mental household, dis-ease will disappear.
